2020 Ingham Student Art Virtual Exhibition
Lansing Art Gallery & Education Center, Ingham Intermediate School District and the Michigan Education Leadership Group host this annual celebration of excellence in the visual arts. The Ingham Student Art Exhibit is a competition open to all K-12 students within the Ingham Intermediate School District service area. Submitted artwork was selected by a qualified juror and will be professionally framed.
The selected artwork normally would be on exhibition at Lansing Art Gallery & Education Center, Ingham Intermediate School District Thorburn Education Center and at the Michigan Educational Leadership Group. Exhibition opening dates have been postponed due to the Stay Home - Stay Safe executive order.
Until we can be together, we are proud to display student's artwork here. Enjoy!

Thank You to our Exhibition Partners
The Ingham Student Art Exhibit would not be possible without the contributions from these collaborating partners.

Thank You Michelle Detering
Special thanks to local artist Michelle Detering who served as the juror for the 2020 exhibit.
Michelle is a nature inspired watercolor and mixed media artist from Michigan. She works in a variety of media including watercolor, photography, mixed media and collage, with watercolor being her primary medium. Her work offers a contemporary take on watercolor that resists the traditional restraints of the medium. Michelle's work emphasizes fluidity and flow, and demonstrates a balance between looseness and control. She likes to use whatever medium best helps channel the story she is trying to tell about the natural world and hopes to inspire people through her art to the see the magic and beauty in nature. Michelle has received numerous awards for her artwork and has participated in group and solo shows throughout the Midwest and is collected by nature enthusiasts worldwide.
"I was honored to be asked to jury the Ingham Student Exhibition. Jurying this exhibit was a bit overwhelming as there were so many excellent pieces. I loved how each student’s unique personality could be seen in each work of art. One of the most amazing things to me, as a teacher, is how a dozen students can have the same project and the pieces come out so unique to the individual.
When jurying I looked for strong composition, use of color and originality, as well as technical skill. With so many talented students and such beautiful work it was difficult to select the pieces. I feel the selected pieces really show the diversity and breadth of talent in the area."
