Celebrating Growth & Change

Our Growing Organization
This year’s growth mirrors our community’s dedication to our mission: to provide public awareness, education, and enjoyment of the visual arts by promoting the works of Michigan artists. Through scheduled appointments, pop up art shops, and our new online store we’ve increased artwork sales. We are also growing as a staff team, which will increase opportunities for Michigan artists and increases our community’s access to the arts.
Introducing our new Gallery Coordinator Sarah Parker
I am thrilled to share that Sarah is a creative professional and practicing artist. She is delighted to become the primary point of contact for: guests, artists, and patrons. Among many responsibilities, she will manage our on-site open hours and online retail gallery. Sarah holds degrees in fine arts and graphic design and has just completed her first year working in various roles with our gallery team!
Celebrating Positive Change
Please know that our staff team, particularly our Exhibitions and Gallery Sales Director Katrina M. Daniels, celebrates this transition and supported Sarah in her previous roles within our organization. Katrina will continue to direct our exhibitions, public art, and retail sales. Please join me in congratulating Sarah at: sarah@lansingartgallery.org.
New Opportunities for Artists
New this year, we’ll offer up to $1,000 for exhibitors working in the social justice/DEI realm through the Elizabeth Charles Emerging Artist Fund. Elizabeth believed in the arts as a vehicle for self-expression and as a means to develop a deeper understanding of our humanity. As a student, she actively championed human equity and diversity. Funding is provided by Norm Charles, Phyllis Mellon, as well as additional funders who seek to continue her championship by supporting Michigan artists and amplifying their voices through monetary awards and promotions. Preference will be given to artists with a vision for or emphasis on enhancing awareness and equity across race, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, or ethnicity. As always, please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.
Best,
