About This Installation

My work blends pattern and color to create an interior reality which may include landscape, the figure, and/or portraiture. My mural work considers and takes in the surrounding landscape and culture, creating an interpretation that asks the viewer to "step in" to the painting, with the idea that when they step out again, they'll see their surroundings with fresh eyes and a new context. The idea is to both interpret and complement the surrounding environment.

Mike Ross studied art and anthropology at Oakland University, graduating in 2003. He currently lives and works in the Detroit area; since 2014 he has been painting out of 333 Midland Studios in Highland Park, Michigan (a city within the city of Detroit).

Under the Shiawassee Bridge - West Side of the Grand River

We are crossing the river and extending ArtPath to the West side of the Grand River. A short walking distance from the beautifully restored 1930s power plant which is now home to the AF group is the Shiawassee Bridge. This location will house three murals.
