09 | Wheel in the Sky
Sculpture | Christine Beals | Haslett, MI
About This Installation
Nature is such an inspiration to me, the colors and shapes. Especially the early morning stars in the sky. Twinkling at us, through the darkness. Reminding us of the rising sun. I hope that “Wheel in the Sky” reminds us all to look up, and embrace the day.
It is a geometric pattern painted on a wooden board using a hard edge approach. Sacred geometry has always inspired me. It’s a big part of my art, and how I break images down. The design is a celestial star painted in vibrant colors, while incorporating lunar phases for added detail. The bright oranges were chosen, to remind us all to burn brightly! The black to represent the vastness of the universe. Movement and patterns to engage the eye and enliven the natural surroundings. I also consider straight lines to be an important part of my presentation. I hope it shows. Thank you so much for looking!
