2021: Building Momentum and Fulfilling our Mission

Open May 8 – June 26, 2021
Standing on the Shoulders of Giants: Recognizing our History
Our history is an important part of our future. This spring Intern Ian Hawthorne spent time researching our archives under the direction of Operations Manager Kyle Richard, seeking historical images to share with you here!
2021: Building Momentum and Fulfilling our Mission
We’re celebrating INCREASED access to the arts! Despite mandated partial closure, our members have helped fulfill our mission to provide public awareness, education and enjoyment of the visual arts by promoting the works of Michigan artists.
Fostering Outdoor Arts Access
Join us for summer outdoor artist talks, pop up art shops, and ArtPath2021 with the City of Lansing’s Parks and Recreation Department.
Growing Online Arts Access
New online infrastructure includes virtual student art exhibitions, classes, art purchasing options, and tours of exhibitions. In addition to scheduling an appointment to visit, you can join us online to shop, learn, or enjoy art.
Increasing Home and Hospital Arts Access
Hundreds of sock creatures have taken Michigan by storm! Sock Creature makers include local celebrities, along with the pediatric wings of Sparrow and McLaren. You can pick up or ship art kits through our online store.
Opportunities for Next Steps
Together, we’ve celebrated milestones such as last November’s partial re-opening with safety protocols. The recently announced Mi Vacc to Normal campaign will drive our next steps to safely and gradually increase our open days, as well.
Join us this summer to experience the arts outdoors, onsite, and online!
Sincerely,

Barb Whitney
Executive Director
