Art Scholarship Alert is a juried art exhibition and scholarship competition for students in grades 9-12 and students 18+ who participate in the Young Adult SE Programs, residing or attending school in Ingham, Clinton, Eaton, Ionia, Shiawassee, Barry, Livingston, Calhoun and Jackson counties. This program gives recognition and financial assistance to outstanding art students, encourages artistic growth, and provides young artists an opportunity to participate in a professional gallery setting.
Art Scholarship Alert is sponsored in part by Jane Schneider, Mariel Foundation, National Endowment for the Arts and the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs.
EXPERIENCE
Visit and view the exhibition safely with a scheduled appointment. Appointments are available on Tuesdays and Saturdays, social distancing and face coverings are required.

Join us virtually as we visit with Portfolio Award winners to learn about their artwork, process and what inspires them, during this hour long discussion. Registration required. This event is FREE.

Flower Power Art-making Workshop
A study in charcoal
Flower Power an art-making workshop. Join teaching artist Susannah VanHorn in a charcoal drawing study of flowers.
Join us as we explore charcoal as the perfect drawing medium for expressive mark making. Using a combination of additive and subtractive techniques with charcoal pencils and erasers for mark making, we will create a set of flower study drawings perfect to bring the beauty of nature into your home. Participants to provide their own materials.

A FREE art making kit, Make your own Accordion Sketch Book, is available to each in person visiter. Each kits contain materials and instructions to make your one sketchbook.
