Governor’s Residence Michigan Artists Program 2010/2011
Hosted by Lansing Art Gallery (LAG), the Governor’s Residence Michigan Artists Program 2010/2011 brings artwork into the public areas of the Lansing Governor’s Residence, including the Living Room, Dining Room, Garden Room, and outdoor spaces. The exhibit, lasting for one year, will end in August of 2011.
Entry Procedure
Each artist may submit a maximum of three entries. No entry fee is due. Juror will select entries by digital format. Images must be 300 dpi resolution, in JPEG format. Label each CD with artist’s name using a permanent marker. No paper labels please. LAG will not return CD’s. DEADLINE: Entries must be in the possession of LAG on or before July 30, 2010 at 4:00 PM.
Jury Process
Artwork will go through a selection process, with the final choice that of Governor Jennifer M. Granholm and First Gentleman Daniel G. Mulhern. LAG will notify selected artists by email on or before August 20, 2010. Accepted artworks must be delivered to LAG on August 27 or 28, 2010.
Eligibility
1. Exhibit is open to artists currently living in Michigan who are 18 years or older.
2. Artists may enter up to three works in any media.
3. Artists must assume responsibility of delivery to and pick up from LAG.
4. Works completed within the last three years are eligible.
5. Artwork entered should not be so fragile that public display is potentially
harmful to the work or viewer.
6. Artwork must be properly prepared for presentation – including hanging wire.
Sales
LAG will process all sales retaining a 50% commission. Artists eligible for sales commission must provide their social security number prior to payment.
Conditions
LAG reserves the right to remove a work for any reason. LAG, Governor Granholm or the State of Michigan is not responsible for loss or damage from any cause whatsoever. Each artist must provide his or her own insurance. LAG reserves the right to photograph accepted work for publicity purposes.
Reception
The Governor and First Gentleman will host an artist reception – date to be determined.
