The Red Thread Project is a multi-media project that is based on the following Chinese proverb: “An invisible red thread connects those destined to met regardless of time, place, or circumstances. The thread may stretch or tangle, but never break.” Jane Kramer’s Red Thread Project came about as a way for the artist to cope with her struggle with infertility and the emotional turmoil resulting from the Chinese adoption process. Kramer’s presentation is an interactive art exhibit which will feature twelve photographs of red thread, each printed on silk and hung from the ceiling, connected with one continuous piece of red thread. The thread will weave itself throughout the gallery. Visitors may cut and manipulate their own piece of thread, or burn a piece of thread into a metal container.
