Pop Up Special Edition: Rosanne Coty
Reconciling With Self by Rosanne Coty

“Women can struggle with societal pressure to present a specific image in order to gain respect or attention. Often, this image for the world hides how they truly feel. Perception V Reality. Reflection; literally and metaphorically. This collection explores the dynamics that exist between outward appearance and internal essence. The countenance, the “good face” that women often put on, contrasts with deeper feelings, concerns, and fears. Recurring themes of eyes as windows to the soul, beauty as fleeting, or internal conflict are explored. Many of these pieces portray perceived frailties. In reality, the embracement of self is empowering and shows strength of character. My goal is to create strong emotional art, thereby eliciting a shared bond with the viewer. It’s a way to console and support others. I understand what you are going through, and I want you to know that things will get better. We can ride the storm together, and we can be better for the experience.” – Rosanne Coty

Rosanne Coty will also host a free demo as part of the Pop Up Project. The drawing demo will take place on Wednesday, July 26, 12 PM – 1 PM.

Coty will speak about her art and style of work. She will give the audience an incite into the chosen artwork including ideas, color choices, motives, etc. Coty will show the audience a face and teach them to draw it while discussing emotions and how to express them in a face. She will encourage participants to draw a reflected face with an emotion, or to change the existing face to reflect the intended emotion.
