Pop Up Art: Special Edition will re-imagine downtown Lansing as we transform Washington Square into a pop up art display complete with artful activities. Pop Up Art: Special Edition will repurpose twelve newspaper kiosks to showcase artwork by Michigan artists. FREE “Newspapers” highlighting featured artists will be available at the kiosks throughout the summer of 2017.

Pop Up Art: Special Edition showcases and supports creativity, increasing collaboration with those who live, work, and play in Lansing! By unexpectedly activating underutilized newspaper kiosks as vibrant sites, Lansing Art Gallery will engage the community in the visual arts.

With the help of volunteers, interns, staff, Board, and you, the gallery will present demonstrations by featured artists from noon – 1 p.m. on Wednesdays by Michigan artists. Taking place through the summer months of June, July, and August 2017, activities will inspire community commitment and civic action, and be free and accessible for all. Support the project by donating today! A gift of even $1 supports this project.
