Lansing Art Gallery launches Upcoming City Streets Exhibition
Please join us for a community reception at Lansing Art Gallery, May 19, from 5 - 7 PM.

Mayor, Virg Bernero, will celebrate the launch of City Streets Exhibition at Lansing Art Gallery, at 5 PM on Thursday, May 19. Lansing Art Gallery’s City Streets Exhibition takes Lansing visitors and residents on a journey through the streets of downtown Lansing. It provides a public venue with interaction for all to appreciate artwork beyond the traditional museum or gallery setting. The exhibit installed on the public walkways and thoroughfares of Washington Square and Michigan Avenue creates two intersecting corridors of artwork. The exhibit, consisting of 80 artworks, will be exclusively created by Michigan artists.

As a component of the exhibition, visitors will have access to phone casts to hear short interviews with the artists talking about their works. Visitors will also have the ability to text comments and vote for the “People’s Choice Award.” A City Streets website will offer more information about the artists and their work.

The exhibit is supported by the City of Lansing Arts & Cultural Grant Program funded through the Economic Development Corporation with help from the Arts Council of Greater Lansing. The grant program is part of a ten year Cultural Economic Development Plan.
