ARTpath Kickoff Event

During the Summer of 2018, Lansing Art Gallery & Education Center will partner with the City of Lansing to bring temporary, site-specific artwork to 10 sites along 3.5 miles of the Lansing River Trail. The Uncommon Place of What is Left Behind by Leah Gose

In the series The Uncommon Place of What is left Behind, Leah is investigating the clarity of memory by exploring vacant and neglected urban interior spaces through fragmentation and reassembly. Operating under an internal logic of repositioning, the torn images force the viewer into a different type of looking in an attempt to reconstruct and rebuild the space within the photograph itself. Shibori Dyeing Workshop

Create your own silk shibori scarf with textile artist Carrie Bryington- Oei! Shibori dyeing is a Japanese dyeing technique that typically involves folding, twisting or bunching cloth and binding it, then dyeing it in indigo. The areas of the cloth that are covered will resist the dye leaving a beautiful pattern. This workshop will cover set-up, and a variety of shibori patterns.
