The Geometry of the Circle by Casey Bemis

September 5 - October 30

Opening reception is Friday, September 7, 6 PM – 8 PM. A members only artist talk will take place at 5:30 PM.

Casey says, “My work is inspired by the world around me, especially on a molecular level. If the arts had not chosen me to continue its study, I would have pursued a career in Chemistry. Nature, Geometry, molecular bonds and even the constellations have some presence of circles within their design.

My idea is to create a series of work that is both abstract and representational at the same time, while retaining a measure of sophistication in both sculptural and jewelry work. Using Copper, brass, bronze and white brass, I combine the metals with non-traditional materials, such as polymer clay, colored pencils to add color to the work. The sculpture in some form will be like a three-dimensional painting, allowing me to draw on my background as a painter. The jewelry will be fantastical in scope yet comfortable to wear. It is the desired result to create both scientific and vibrant works of art with an air of joviality in these uncertain times.”

This exhibition is generously sponsored by Dan & Bonnie Warmels.
