Artist Statement:
Lansing River Rhythm will be created from two separate woodblocks that feature the belted kingfisher and a variety of Michigan Fish. These will be printed with waterproof oil-based ink and applied to a cement wall near the river with wheatpaste, a temporary but durable adhesive.

Dayna is drawn to printmaking for the way it yields itself to experimentation, especially in the the application of pattern. She’s fascinated by the way that iterating an image can change the effect it has. From a few woodcuts, endless prints can be created and pieced together to create a pattern that mimics the cycles and repetition that occurs in nature’s systems.
